You know you need to change.  The life you’re living is not the life you want to live.  It’s not the life you were meant to live.

But change is hard.  Sometimes, it’s so complex that you don’t know where to start.  Sometimes the change is scary, because you have to face up to a truth about yourself that you’ve ignored.  Sometimes you don’t actually want to change, you just know you ought.

Whether it’s your health, or your money, or your marriage, or your lifestyle, or your career, or anything else, I think there’s a pretty standard process for making a change.

We all know it; it’s nothing new:

1) Recognize the problem

2) Define a workable solution

3) Execute – One day at a time, one step at a time.

I want to camp on the last one for a minute.  One day at a time, one step at a time.

I love this quote from The Compound Effect, written by Darren Hardy:

“Don’t wait another day to start the small disciplines that will lead you in the direction of our goals!  The key is to start NOW.  Every great act, every fantastic adventure, starts with small steps. The first step always looks harder than it actually is.”

The change you seek won’t happen overnight.  Most of the larger problems you’re dealing with didn’t happen overnight; so don’t expect them to go away immediately.

But little steps, small changes, over time, lead to BIG RESULTS.  Imagine how much farther along you’d be if you had started a year ago!

Let us start today, even with a small step, and continue until we reach the inevitable success we seek.
