Happy New Year, y’all!  I love a new year.  It’s like a “reset” button, a blank canvas, a new start.

I’ve got an idea for you this year:  Don’t make resolutions.

The vast majority of resolutions are abandoned by Valentine’s Day, and most of the other ones are forgotten on the ash-heap of time as the yearly grind takes over.

But I’m not suggesting you aim for nothing.  Instead, create goals.

I’ll be the first to say I’m not the most insightful writer on goals; there are many more that have great thoughts and insights, so I wanted to direct you to some of my favorites, so you can have a productive and life-changing year:

Nancy Ray – I obviously love everything Nancy does, but she is an inspiration for many when it comes to setting goals.  Check out my favorite of her insights here, here, and here.  You can also see all her posts mentioning goals, so inspiring!

Michael Hyatt – Hyatt blogs about leadership, productivity, and a number of other topics, but also has great insights about goal setting.  I love this recent post about mistakes when goal setting, and here’s all his posts on personal development.

Dave Ramsey and the EntreLeadership Team – I really learned about good goal-setting initially when attending an Entreleadership 1-Day event in South Carolina nearly four years ago now.  They’ve got a number of great articles at the new EntreLeadership.com about goals and goal-setting.

Lara Casey – One of my most motivational and inspiring friends has been writing an awesome series on goal-setting, but I hadn’t been able to check it out until today.  Make it happen, y’all!  Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4

Let’s make it happen this year, friends!   Happy New Year!

What are your other favorite writers or articles on goal-setting?
