I’m going to start a series to run every Tuesday called “Tuesday Tips for Budgeting” that will provide a few quick-hit suggestions that may help you handle your money a little better.  I hope it helps!

– Christmas, Birthdays, and Anniversaries are not emergencies.  They happen at the same time every year!  Budget something for gifts every month, with increasing amounts the second half of the year as Christmas gets closer.

– If you’re just starting out trying to budget, you’re going to be terrible at it.  That’s ok!  It takes 90 days to really get a handle on how much you’re spending and use it more effectively.

– Budgeted amounts need to be realistic.  If you budgeted $250/month for food for a family of four, you’re bound to bust your budget, become frustrated, and possibly quit.
