– If you’ve read my blog for any time, you know I don’t think that building your credit score is worth spending a lot of time and money to do.  However, it’s important that you know what’s on your credit report!  The information on your credit report(s) are what determine the scores assigned to you by the three credit bureaus and FICO.

– To keep tabs on your credit report, you can get one free credit report annually by visiting AnnualCreditReport.com; NOT FreeCreditReport.com, which is actually owned by Experian, one of the credit bureaus.  You need to check your credit report at least annually to make sure nothing is incorrect and that no one has stolen your identity to take out loans in your name.

– Since there are three different credit reporting bureaus (Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax), you can look at all three of them at once, or look at one every four months, keeping a tab on your reports throughout the year.  It’s up to you.
