10 Ways to Love Your Wife Financially [Part 1]

Valentine’s Day being last month got me thinking about how to love my wife better.  Being wired as I am, I began to think about how I can make Nancy feel loved by the way we handle our money and make financial decisions.

Men, we can make our wives feel loved on so many different levels – not just by hugging her and saying, “I love you.”  We can love her well by how we communicate with her, how we act, how we work, how we interact with our children, even in how we care for ourselves and manage the money entrusted to us.

So I began to think, how do I show Nancy that she’s loved by the way we handle our money?  And I asked […]

Put the Past Behind, and Press On

This week, I’ve had some doubts about the goals I posted.  That ugly voice inside, that sinister naysayer that tears you down and gets to you when you’re weak has been doing what it does best – talking, talking, talking.

Pastor Stephen Furtick calls it “the chatterbox.”  Seth Godin refers to it as “the lizard brain.”  Whatever you call it, the voice’s purpose is always the same: Throw you off your game, and distract you from the important and great things you set out to do.

One of the chatterbox’s most common tactics is to remind you of past failures.

“Why are you trying that again?  You failed miserably and embarrassed yourself last time.”
“What makes you think anyone cares?  No one listened last time you had something to […]

Start Small

It’s the first Monday of the New Year.  Maybe your are just tearing out of the gate, ready to roll.

You were at the gym with another 129 people in your neighborhood that are feeling the same way.  You’re going to slash your budget so hard that you reach your financial goals by March 1.  You’re gonna blog like you’ve never blogged before, pray like you’ve never prayed before, read like you’ve never read before, exercise like you’ve never exercised before, and journal like you’ve never journaled before.

Can I offer one suggestion?

Slow down.

What!?

Yes, slow down.

It’s easy to get caught up in the fervor and excitement of the New Year, a new start and fresh resolutions.  The bad news is that we burn out easily, especially if we’ve […]

It’s a New Year! [2015 Goals]

It’s game time, y’all!

Begin today, if you haven’t already.  Begin anywhere.  At the very least, make one choice that will take you the direction you want to go.

You don’t have to do it all right now.  You can’t do it all right now; that’s impossible!

Where do you want to go?  Make a choice today that will take you that way.

I’m going to start making some choices this week that will take me to where I want to go.  I find that when I make goals, I don’t always hit them, but often I go farther with a goal that is written, defined, and measurable than if I just say “I want to be better at _____”

So, here we go, my goals for 2015:

Serve 150 coaching clients
Create […]

Merry Christmas from Nancy, Winston, Baby Ray, and me!  I hope this Christmas is filled with lots of special memories for you and your family!
For unto us a Child is born,
Unto us a Son is given;
And the government will be upon His shoulder.
And His name will be called
Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Best Places to do Last-Minute Giving

Being that it’s the week of Christmas, everyone is talking about “last-minute shopping.”  Where can you get last-minute deals, with delivery in time for Christmas?  This weekend, instead of thinking of last-minute shopping, I was thinking about last-minute giving.

Maybe you haven’t been as intentional about searching out and pursuing giving opportunities like you may have hoped this year.  But, since then you’ve gotten into the spirit of the season, and you really want to spread the cheer before the Christmas season is out.  But now there’s 72 hours until Christmas morning!  Where can we find good places to spread Christmas cheer through giving?

Here are some great ways and places to spread the Christmas cheer in the little time that we have left before Christmas.

The Season of Giving [03]

I love this video.  It’s been around, but powerful.”Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.” – II Corinthians 9:6She sowed generously and reaped generously!  And don’t you love it when someone appreciates a gift so deeply?  You can see she was truly touched and had such a sweet spirit. How can you take your generosity to the next level this season?

2015 Is Your Year! [Plus a Giveaway!]

It’s game time.  2015 is going to be a big year.  Now is the time to be thinking about the kind of year YOU want to have!

New Years are so wonderful.  Seasons are so great.  Every 365 days, you get a built-in “Reset” button, a chance to have a clean slate, a fresh start.

Where do you want to be at this time this year?  What do you want to have accomplished?  YOU have the power to completely change your life this year.  What steps do you need to take to make that happen?

If you are serious about getting your business or personal finances primed to take you places, I would love to work with you.  If you’re sick and tired of spinning your wheels, let’s make something […]

The Season of Giving [02]

This week’s video comes to you via WestJet, an airline that the more I learn about, the more I want to patronize.  These people are great.

This video came to popularity last year, when WestJet staged a giving extravaganza for a couple select flights, complete with an interactive virtual Santa, who relayed the wishes to a ground team who bought, wrapped, and delivered the gifts while the guests were in flight.  This is incredibly creative and extremely well executed.  If you’ve got five minutes to spare, you won’t be disappointed.

How inspiring?  What are some ways that you can surprise and bless the socks off of someone?  Finding out what someone is trying to get for Christmas and clandestinely purchasing and delivering it would be a lot […]
